Radiant History Perfect Chronology Desertification has attacked the continent of Vainqueur, and with arable land shrinking by the day, the kingdoms of Alistel and Granorg are locked in conflict over the remaining patches of green dotted in among the endless sand. Though it looks largely the same as the original outing, Radiant Historia is absolutely worth playing in 2018, with an exciting, time-travelling tale, uniquely engaging combat, and excellent new additions for veteran players.Radiant Historia kicks off in situ, in the middle of a war between rival states. Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology an updated version of a 2011 DS release is the latest title in this trend, and it’s a fantastic treat for JRPG fans.
ATLUS has been a prolific contributor to this corner of its library, and alongside original titles such as Shin Megami Tensei IV, Persona Q, and Stella Glow, it’s also brought several DS games forward through remakes such as Etrian Odyssey Untold and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked. The remake saw a generally positive response, with many praising the added story and gameplay content.The 3DS may be getting on these days, but it’s certainly got plenty to show for its half-dozen years on the scene, including an astoundingly impressive collection of RPGs. Several critics compared it favourably to role-playing games from the 16-bit gaming era. The original received praise for its gameplay and time travel mechanics, though opinions were mixed on its graphics and linear structure. Reception and sales for both versions have been positive, with both reaching high sales chart positions in Japan and the West. The music for both versions was composed by Yoko Shimomura, with theme songs performed by Haruka Shimotsuki. The remake included redrawn artwork, voice acting, an additional story path, and an animated opening produced by A-1 Pictures. First proposed by Satoshi Takayashiki in 2007, the base concept underwent several changes due to suggestions from Atlus staff. Radiant Historia was developed by a team with staff drawn from both Atlus' Megami Tensei series, and the tri-Ace title Radiata Stories.
Travelling between alternate timelines is a key part of both the storyline and the gameplay, with the number of potential timelines unlocked influencing the ending. Stocke and his party explore Vainqueur, fighting enemies on a grid-based battlefield using a turn-based system. Alistel soldier Stocke is chosen to wield the White Chronicle, a tome capable of navigating multiple timelines, so he may prevent Vainqueur's desertification. The game is set on Vainqueur, a continent divided between the warring nations of Alistel and Granorg.
